Cheer Squad

The St Kilda Cheer Squad house our most passionate Sainters and play an important role in proudly representing the Red, White and Black on Game Day, ultimately creating a magical atmosphere for all to enjoy!

The Cheer Squad are an integral part of all AFL club traditions and are the masters behind the making of the banners that the team to run through, keeping spirits high through cheers and chants, providing colour with flags and floggers, as well as providing an inclusive environment for all to feel welcome.

Cheer Squad members have access to a reserved seat at all Saints Home and Away games in Melbourne. You will also be given the opportunity to book a ticket to support the Saints at all of our interstate games throughout the season, keep an eye out on your inbox for this!

Banner Making takes place at the Moorabbin Bowls Club (66 Linton St, Moorabbin VIC 3189) on a Thursday night from 5:30pm!

The St Kilda Cheer Squad is the very heart of our club on Game Day and play an important role in setting the tone each week than with our tri-colour flags flying proudly from the fence line.

ST KILDA CHEERSQUAD GUIDELINES

• All Cheer squad members must abide by the St Kilda Football Club Member code of conduct listed under “Member Code of Conduct and General Venue Rules” on our Member Zone – Terms & Conditions . (https://saintsmembership.com.au/member-zone/terms-conditions)

• The goal of the cheer squad is to encourage our team by cheering them on until the final siren – win, lose or draw.

• Discriminatory, abusive, insulting, threatening and hurtful remarks posted on any social media platform, whether it is your own personal social media, St Kilda supporter pages or any St Kilda Cheer squad Social media pages is not permitted.

• As a person involved with the St Kilda Cheer Squad, the following standard of behaviour is expected towards other cheer squad members, opposition fans in surrounding areas, St Kilda fans, umpires, players, and club staff :

- Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background, or religion

- Refrain from any form of abuse, bullying, harassment, rude gestures, discrimination, and victimisation of other patrons

- Provide a safe environment for the conduct of active fan activities

- Be a positive role model in the cheer squad area

• Examples of positive behaviour required by Cheer squad members are listed below:

- Applaud good performance and efforts from all individuals and teams

- Congratulate all players on their performance regardless of the outcome

- Respect the decisions of officials, and encourage others to do the same

- Show respect for all players

- Avoid ridiculing or scolding players for making a mistake. Positive comments are motivational

- Reject the use of violence in any form, whether it is by spectators, coaches, umpires, or players

- Encourage those around you to follow the rules and the umpires’ decisions.

- Refrain from use of foul language, rude gestures, sledges or harass other competitors, coaches or umpires.

• In addition, all St Kilda Cheer squad members must abide by the AFL guidelines listed below.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

St Kilda Cheer squad members are representing the club and must abide by AFL, club, and all stadium management regulations.

The St Kilda Football Club has the right to suspend or expel Cheer squad members that do not abide by the rules and regulations stated within these Guidelines, or who are believed to provide a poor representation of the club.

AFL GUIDELINES

The following guidelines are set by the AFL to ensure everyone is aware of acceptable behaviour.

• Abusive, insulting and threatening language will not be tolerated, and offenders will be evicted.

• No anti-social behaviour

• No alcohol in the designated Cheer squad Area

• No offensive or derogatory banners or signs

• No standing on the seat

• The minimum age of Cheer squad members who have stadium ground access is 16 years of age
